Night Display Gallery Pešak makes an important contribution to the visibility and promotion of Slovenian artists, especially those of the younger and middle generation. In the second half of its operation, the gallery has significantly profiled itself and presents an increasing challenge to the many invited artists, who skillfully adapt their works to the challenges of a semi-street gallery. Since its inauguration in the spring of 2014, we have held over 50 exhibitions with the participation of more than 70 Slovenian visual artists (painters, sculptors, illustrators, videographers, photographers, comic artists, film animators etc.) as well as artists from other fields – musicians and performers.
Night Display Gallery Pešak differs from all other galleries in that the viewer does not enter the gallery, but the artworks are placed in such a way that they are visible from a public space. The viewer-visitor can view the individual exhibited works from the courtyard with the naked eye and with the help of special binoculars mounted on the platform of the metal tower (former watchtower of the military prison) in the courtyard of Metelkova.
