KUD Mreža has been preserving and collecting the archival material of the autonomous cultural centre Metelkova mesta since 1993. The archive contains photographs, sound and video recordings, media responses, essays, documentation, etc. All amateur archivists are invited to participate, complete and sort the archive material. The material collected so far can be consulted at the KUD Mreža office.
For a taster, here you can see some photographs from the colourful history of Metelkova mesto. The photographs are the work of various professional and amateur photographers. We are publishing them for the benefit of the interested public, but also in the hope that the authors will recognise them as their own and let us know. Information about the authorship of photographs, events and stories can be sent to: email@example.com. Until then, we publish them under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License.
You can read more about the history of Metelkova and Ljubljana's spatial politics in Bratko Bibič's book The Noise from Metelkova (Peace Institute, 2003) or in the attached summary from his sociological study on urbanism and urban culture in Ljubljana in English: (Instead of) Summary.
